Featured in the 2013–14 exhibition An American Style: Global Sources for New York Textile and Fashion Design, 1915–1928, this in-gallery interactive invites visitors to learn more about the American Museum of Natural History’s 1919 exhibition, Industrial Art in Textiles and Costumes. Focused on the museum’s efforts to engender a distinctly American design aesthetic from the beginning of the American Arts and Crafts movement through World War I, the interactive utilizes archival installation photos to explore the exhibition’s use of non-Western art and design as inspirations for designers and manufacturers during this time period.
