I came to the BGC with a specific interest in jewelry studies. One of the oldest and most ubiquitous art forms, the practice of adorning oneself Is both deeply personal and culturally revealing. As such, I find myself captivated by the unique storytelling capabilities of jewelry. The BGC’s object-based approach to learning encourages this curiosity, asking students to look closely, think broadly, and consider how many different stories can be told about a single object. Embracing the inherently insightful nature of objects and their ability to “speak,” the BGC enables me to explore and understand history through the lens of objects.
