Kelly McClinton holds a PhD in computer science and is currently pursuing a second doctorate in classical art and archaeology at the University of Oxford. Her research applies digital methodologies to the material record and cultural history of ancient Rome. Bringing together art history, archaeology, and the latest 3D modeling approaches, her current project entitled “As Above So Below” considers how early excavators sought to imprint contemporary cultural and religious understandings upon both the physical spaces—and excavated materials—discovered below early Christian basilicas throughout the Eternal City.
