On February 4th, Professor Jeffrey Collins led an Object Hour talk about the BGC Library’s newest rare acquisition. Le Antichità di Ercolano Esposte was the first attempt to catalog the excavations of buildings and antiquities at Herculaneum and Pompeii. The nine volume set was commissioned by Charles III and published between 1754-1792. These rare volumes were the basis of a visual language for neo-classical art that designers drew from in the late 18th century.
