Join us for an educator-led tour of two fascinating
exhibitions focusing on the material culture of Colombia and the Andean region.
Make a small weaving, and receive complimentary lesson
plans. Waterweavers: The River in Contemporary Colombian Visual and Material
Culture features furniture, sculpture, textiles, video, and other works by
contemporary Colombian artists, referencing rivers and their many
meanings. Carrying Coca: 1,500 Years of Andean Chuspas examines how
two aspects of Andean life—coca leaves and handwoven textiles—are brought
together in the chuspa—a small woven bag designed to hold coca leaves.
