Caroline Montague is interested in how textile patterns and fabrication techniques spread across countries and continents, particularly in the early modern world. Her research explores the fashions and networks that led to the rising popularity of knit garments from Islamic Egypt to early modern Europe, particularly stockings and socks. She has a BA in history with a focus in empires and colonization from Barnard College.
