Irène Berthezène has a background in industrial design and exhibition design. Before joining Bard Graduate Center, she worked on fashion and design shows, developing extensive expertise in designing exhibition projects. In France, her home country, she taught design history and wrote for magazines and institutions. Berthezène enrolled in Bard Graduate Center’s master’s program to bridge the gap between her practical work and her theoretical interest in design history. Her research focuses on twentieth-century furniture and interior design, with a particular interest in women and creative relationships.
