American Decorative Arts at the Brooklyn Museum

As a first step toward an eventual reinstallation of the collection, this class will examine and evaluate the Brooklyn Museum collections of decorative arts in order to determine optimal utilization of collections to convey the most meaningful story to the public. Current usage of collections—including period rooms—will be examined; the process of documenting the collection through research and cataloging will be explored; and future uses will be considered and proposed. The class may ultimately result in installation or exhibition. Classes will take place at the Brooklyn Museum. 3 credits.
