DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 16th\, come enjoy an exhibition tour with S
 asha Nixon exploring how contemporary jewelry makers are drawing from anti
 que forms and techniques to create stunning works of art!  Explore the way
 s contemporary artists working with jewelry create the final form of a pie
 ce at the jeweler’s bench\, where jewelry is still wrought by hand. The ex
 hibition will include a jeweler’s bench\, sketches\, and tools\, and will 
 illuminate the connections between present and past—in terms of form\, tec
 hnique\, and materials—so that visitors can better see how artists are re-
 considering the art of adornment and age-old jewelry forms in exciting new
  ways.Sasha Nixon is a curator\, jewelry historian\, and practicing metals
 mith. She received her MA from Bard Graduate Center in May of 2018. Her ex
 hibition proposal\, which was part of her final qualifying paper\, was cho
 sen for presentation via a competitive selection process. A panel of facul
 ty members and the Director of the Bard Graduate Center Gallery chose her 
 proposal for its scholastic merit and curatorial insight into the history 
 of jewelry. Nixon’s exhibition will be the first in a series of exhibition
 s curated by recent graduates that Bard Graduate Center is launching to ce
 lebrate its 25th Anniversary.We are also pleased to extend complimentary n
