DESCRIPTION:On October 27 to celebrate Archtober\, NYC's architecture and d
 esgin month\, Bard Graduate Center\, Architexx\, the AIA’s Women in Archit
 ecture and Diversity and Inclusion Committees\, along with Wikimedia NYC\,
  will host a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to address the lack of entries on Wikip
 edia about contributions by women\, LGBTQI communities\, and artists of co
 lor to the fields of architecture and design history. The event\, which wi
 ll take place on Saturday\, October 27 from 12–4 pm at the Bard Graduate C
 enter\, is designed to improve coverage of the arts on Wikipedia. The edit
 -a-thon will include tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian\, ongoing editi
 ng support\, reference materials\, and refreshments. No prior Wikipedia ex
 perience required but we do encourage attendees to bring a laptop if possi
 ble.ARCHITEXX is a 501c3 non-profit organization for gender equality in ar
 chitecture that seeks to transform the profession of architecture by bridg
 ing the academy and practice.  We are a cross-generational group of academ
 ics and practitioners\, and our organization is open to all women-identify
 ing people and allies. We believe that seeds established in the academy an
 d adopted in practice\, are outdated models which perpetuate myths and uns
 ustainable trends in the personal\, private\, and workplace group experien
 ce and public\, client perception.AIA New York’s Diversity and Inclusion C
 ommittee seeks to provoke a dialogue about diversity issues and give agenc
 y to issues of inclusion and representation. In 2008\, the AIA National Bo
 ard recognized that a key strategic initiative required the enlistment of 
 “new talents and new insights to address the critical issues of our time a
 nd future generations. The local committee’s role works to match that of t
 he Diversity & Inclusion Council at the National level.Wikimedia NYC is th
 e regional Wikimedia chapter serving the New York metropolitan area. They 
 help promote free access to the world's knowledge in support of Wikipedia 
 and the other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikimedia NYC is a sep
 arate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation and has no editorial cont
 rol over Wikipedia or any other project hosted by the FoundationLeading su
