 bjectives and challenges involved in\ndressing a costume exhibition. Recon
 ditioning a historic garment forces one to\nknow the object intimately. In
  this talk\, Tae Smith will explore the\nimportant role dressing plays in 
 the conservation of historic garments and in\nthe presentation of an exhib
 ition's narrative. She also will address the\nvarying philosophies and app
 roaches to garments as museum objects. A mannequin\npreparation and garmen
 t-dressing demonstration will follow. Tae Smith is a costume and textile e
 xpert who specializes in dressing and\nexhibiting costumes and textiles. S
 he has worked for the Costume Institute of\nthe Metropolitan Museum of Art
 \, Bard Graduate Center\, and the Cooper-Hewitt\nNational Design Museum\, 
 among others.
