Mezzo-soprano Minda Larsen, pianist Seth Weinstein, and bass-baritone Robert Osborne will take you on a musical journey through old New York with a program of popular songs by outstanding composers including Victor Herbert, Sigmund Romberg, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Charles Ives, and George M. Cohan. Presented in conjunction with the BGC Focus Gallery exhibition, Visualizing 19th-Century New York, these exquisite musical portraits take us back to the days when the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, and Central Park were brand new additions to the cityscape, theater was found on Union Square and Second Avenue, and New York earned its reputation as the world’s melting pot.
