Join us for an educator-led tour of two fascinating
exhibitions focusing on historical and contemporary art inspired by and made in
New York City. Learn about our exciting outreach suitcase program, create a
small artwork, and receive complimentary lesson plans. Barbara Nessim: An
Artful Life features paintings, prints, collages, textiles,sculpture,
digital art, and illustrations, spanning the artist’s career beginning in the
1960s. Through a range of primary source material–including maps, woodcuts,
etchings, lithographs, and furniture–Visualizing 19th-Century New York examines
how entrepreneurs produced a range of prints and photographs in order to make
sense of the booming metropolis and to promote their own manufactures to
national and international markets.
