 \nGraduate Center Gallery.\n\nIrma Boom is a world renowned Amsterdam-base
 d graphic\ndesigner specializing in making books. Her commissioners includ
 e the\nRijksmuseum\, Amsterdam\; Paul Fentener van Vlissingen (from 1990-2
 006)\; Inside\nOutside\; Prince Claus Fund\; Fondazione Prada\; Zumtobel\;
  Ferrari\; Masserati\;\nVitra International\; NAi Publishers\; United Nati
 ons\; OMA/Rem Koolhaas\;\nKoninklijke Tichelaar Makkum\; The Museum of Mod
 ern Art\, New York\; and Aga Khan\nFoundation\, Geneva. She has received n
 umerous awards for her book designs and\nwas the youngest laureate ever to
  receive the prestigious Gutenberg prize for\nher complete body of work.  
 Her books are held in the permanent\ncollections of  The Museum of Modern 
 Art\, New York\; Bibliothèque Kandinsky\nat the Centre Pompidou\, Musée na
 tional d'art moderne\, Paris\; and the Irma Boom\nCollection at the Univer
 sity of Amsterdam. Ms. Boom first collaborated with the\nBard Graduate Cen
 ter in 2006 when she designed the award-winning exhibition catalogue Sheil
 a\nHicks: Weaving as Metaphor.  She has returned to design the catalogue f
 or\nour current exhibition: Knoll Textiles\, 1945-2010.Published by the BG
 C in collaboration with Yale University\nPress and edited by Earl Martin\,
  associate curator at the BGC\, Knoll\nTextiles\, 1945-2010 provides an in
 -depth analysis of textiles of one of\nthe world’s leading design companie
 s\, Knoll. The contributors include Paul\nMakovsky\, editorial director\, 
 Metropolis magazine\, on the Knoll firm\nbefore the founding of Knoll Text
 iles\; Susan Ward\, an independent textile\nhistorian on the context for m
 odern textiles in America from the late 1930s to\nthe early 1960s and Knol
 l’s key contributions during this period\; Bobbye Tigerman\,\nassistant cu
 rator of decorative arts and design at the Los Angeles County\nMuseum of A
 rt\, on Florence Knoll and the Knoll Planning Unit\; and Angela\nVölker\, 
 curator emeritus of textiles at the MAK\, Vienna\, on Knoll Textiles from
 \n1965 to 2010. Knoll Textiles\, 1945–2010 makes a major contribution to\n
 modern design history by resurrecting the stories of over 80 designers who
 \ncreated textiles for Knoll from 1942 to the present in an extensive biog
 raphy\nsection\, which provides previously unpublished and critical inform
 ation.
