DESCRIPTION:Cynthia Hahn will be coming to speak in the Seminar in\nCompara
 tive Medieval Material Culture (China\, Islam\, Europe) Wednesday\, Januar
 y\n27\, 2010\, on “Medieval Reliquaries: ‘Minor Arts’ of Major Importance.
 ”\n\nDr. Hahn received her B.A from Pennsylvania State\nUniversity\, M.A. 
 from the University of Chicago and Ph.D. from John Hopkins\nUniversity. Cu
 rrently\, Dr. Hahn is Professor of Art History teaching early and\nlate me
 dieval art at Hunter College and The Graduate Center\, CUNY. She was\nprev
 iously a professor at Florida State University\, from 1982 to 2006\, where
 \nshe was named Gulnar K. Bosch Professor of Art History in 2001.\n\nShe h
 as received numerous honors and fellowships from\ninstitutions such as the
  Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton and has\nrecently received a Ps
 Cuny grant to support the publication of her latest\nproject\, Sacred Trea
 sure: Origins and Issues in the Making of Medieval\nReliquaries\, contract
  offered at University of Pennsylvania Press.\n\nIn 2001 Professor Hahn pu
 blished Portrayed on the\nHeart: Narrative Effect in Pictorial Lives of th
 e Saints from the Tenth through\nthe Thirteenth Century (University of Cal
 ifornia Press\, 2001) and in 1988\nshe authored the facsimile edition of t
 he Passio Kyliani\, Psuedo\nTheotimus\, Passio Margaretae…Hannover Nieders
 ächsische Landesbibliothek\, Ms.\nI.189 (Graz Akademische Druck‑und Verlag
 anstalt\, 1988). In addition to Scared\nTreasure Dr. Hahn is currently wor
 king on The Life of King Edmund in\nPierpont Morgan Manuscript 736\, for B
 repols/Harvey Miller. She has recently\nbeen invited to participate in the
  planning of a major exhibition for 2010 “A\nMatter of Faith: Relics and R
 eliquaries in the Middle Ages”.\n\nPlease join us in the Lecture Hall at 3
