DESCRIPTION:Joanna Marschner will give a Brown\nBag Lunch presentation on T
 hursday\, April 27\, at 12:15 pm. Her talk is entitled “Enlightened Prince
 sses:\nCaroline\, Augusta\, Charlotte\, and the Shaping of the Modern Worl
 d\,” and\nexamines an exhibition currently on view at the Yale Center for 
 British Art by\nthe same name.\n\nEnlightened\nPrincesses: Caroline\, Augu
 sta\, Charlotte\, and the Shaping of the Modern World\, an exhibition\ncol
 laboration between Historic Royal Places and the Yale Center for British\n
 Art\, was created with the ambition to share not only content and theme\, 
 but\natmosphere and “feel.” In this talk\, Marschner will\ndiscuss how the
  curatorial staff sought to conjure a sense of palace within\nLouis Kahn’s
  last great building in New Haven\, and how they introduced\nsomething of 
 the energy of eighteenth-century conversations and encounters\, and\nthe e
 xcitement of occasion.\n\nJoanna Marschner is Senior Curator at Historic R
 oyal\nPalaces. Based at Kensington Palace\, she has been responsible for m
 any\nexhibitions\, and has devised and commissioned the programming which 
 has\naccompanied them. She has recently led a collaborative exhibition and
  publication\nproject between Historic Royal Palaces and the Yale Center f
 or British Art\,\nserving as guest curator for the exhibition at Yale. She
  has lectured\nnationally and internationally on subjects ranging from mus
 eology to dress\nhistory and the history of the monarchy\, and has explore
 d how their houses\, and\ncollections of the fine and decorative arts\, ar
 e used to further the cultural\npolitics of the court. She was Chair of th
 e Dress and Textiles Specialists in\nMuseums working group (1995–2001)\, a
 nd Chair of the Costume Committee of ICOM\n(2001–2007).
