 hursday\, October 17\, at 12:15 pm. Her talk is entitled\, “From Vogue to 
 French\nVogue: Visual Culture and National Identities in the American and 
 French\nFashion Press\, 1920-1940.”\n\nFocusing on the\nintersection of pr
 ess culture and corporate and national identities\, this talk\nwill examin
 e the functional collaboration of two magazines within the same\npublishin
 g house of Condé Nast –Vogue (1892) and French Vogue\n(1920)\, using unpub
 lished private archives (Condé Nast Archives). Through an\nanalysis of bot
 h magazines’ fashion illustrations\, Dr. Kurkdjian will\nexplore the scope
  and nature of their agreements and divergences in order to\nunderstand th
 e way the French Vogue  was able to pursue its\nown format and editorial o
 bjectives during the interwar years.Sophie Kurkdjian is a Research Associa
 te at Institut d’Histoire\ndu Temps Présent (CNRS). She received her PhD f
 rom Université\nParis I\, Panthéon-Sorbonne. She co-curated the 2019 exhib
 ition French\nFashion\, Women\, and the First World War at the Bard Gradua
 te Center\nGallery.
