 in Kids’ Workshop led by educators from The U’mista Cultural Centre and de
 legates from the Kwakwaka’wakw (pronounced: KWOK-wok-ya-wokw) community in
  British Columbia. Explore the current exhibition The Story Box: Franz Boa
 s\, George Hunt and the Making of Anthropology and learn about the signifi
 cance of shapes in material artifacts\, past and present. Join us for stor
 ytelling\, song\, and art making activities designed to foster empathy and
  creativity.About U’mistaU’mista Cultural Centre is one of the longest-ope
 rating and most successful First Nations cultural facilities in BC\, found
 ed in 1980 as a ground breaking project to house potlatch artifacts which 
 had been seized by government during an earlier period of cultural repress
 ion. U’mista now operates a modern museum and cultural education facility 
 in Alert Bay\, British Columbia. Their operations include the museum\, an 
 extensive art gallery and gift shop\, group tours\, and presentations by d
 ance troupes. The facility hosts international scholars\, and supports res
 earchers in a range of disciplines.
