Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, visited our exhibition, Dutch New York between East and West: The World of Margrieta van Varick.

H.E. Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, visited our exhibition, Dutch New York between East and West: The World of Margrieta van Varick on September 21 while in New York City for the opening of the United Nations General Assembly. With him were H.E. Mr. Maxime Verhagen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands; H.E. Mrs. Renée Jones-Bos, Ambassador of the Netherlands to the United States; and Mr. Gajus Scheltema, Consul General of the Netherlands in New York as well as various staff members. Dr. Peter N. Miller, Dean and Chair of Academic Programs and Deborah L. Krohn, Associate Professor and Coordinator for History and Theory of Museums at BGC (and co-curator with Marybeth De Filippis, Assistant Curator of American Art at the New-York Historical Society), guided the group through the exhibition. Dr. Susan Weber, Founder and Director of Bard Graduate Center hosted a lunch immediately following the tour.
