How Does Related Content Work?

Related content on the BGC site is selected to display the breadth of, and interrelationships between content types that are studied at the BGC.

Each element of content is tagged with terms drawn from a taxonomy of keywords we selected to describe our content. The terms are organized into a hierarchy of classes and facets, inspired by the example of the Getty Art & Architecture Thesaurus Online

Once content items have been tagged, the actual selection of results is automated by software, using an algorithm that first orders returns based on the highest number of category matches, and secondly, according to a predetermined order of priority for the top level classes. Additionally, results the same number of matches for equally ranked classes are displayed in alphabetical order.
