Visiting Scholar in Residence
From time to time, it is possible for the BGC to host a Visiting Scholar for up to a semester in a non-stipendiary Visiting Scholar appointment.
Applicants for these should be on leave from their home institutions, with a project to work on in New York City that is relevant to the work of the Institute.
After selection once a term by the faculty committee, the designated scholar will be given a desk in our research center, and will be a part of the BGC community for the time they are in residence.
Scholars will be expected to give a presentation to the community on their research project once they arrive, and to attend some of our weekly evening seminars, which cover a wide range of guest speakers, and thus be part of the intellectual life of the community.
Housing is sometimes available (for rent ) for the duration of the appointment.
If you would like to be considered for a fall appointment, please send us a letter and outline of your research project, and a full CV by April 1 of the year you would like to be considered for . If you would like to be in residence in the spring term, please send us this same information by October 1 in the semester before you would like to join us.
