This half-day symposium previews the exhibition The Decorative Arts Arrive: The Georges Hoentschel Collection between Paris and New York, to open at the Bard Graduate Center in April 2013. The exhibition will showcase the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of French decorative arts assembled by Georges Hoentschel, one of the most important interior decorators in late 19th Century Paris, which was purchased and donated by J.P. Morgan in 1907 becoming the nucleus of the Museum’s European decorative arts collection.
