Distinguished American landscape architect Laurie Olin has written extensively on the history and theory of architecture and has closely studied William Kent’s life through his drawings and gardens. In this talk, Olin will reflect on Kent’s status as the “inventor” of the English landscape garden, as well as the influence of Italian painting and architecture (particularly Villa Madama) on his work.

Laurie Olin, the founder of OLIN Studio, is a landscape architect and practice professor of landscape architecture at the University of Pennsylvania.
